Halfway There – Updates Direct from Kenya…

Please pray for us as we hit the half way point of our mission here in Kenya. The orphans conference was a huge success and ended yesterday with some of our team members whashing the feet of one person from each country represented. The conference was a huge undertaking and our own Jeromy Smith was the key person in pulling it all together. Please pray for him today as he rests and regroups. He will be taking the morning off and hopefully sleeing.

Each day here in Kenya is packed with good things and opportunities to serve and learn. Today, Saturday, we have a fun day planned with the intention of serving the teachers at the Provision School in Soweto. These teachers work hard and don’t really make a salary. They do get a stipend from the support of We Are Kenya. On that note, if you are wondering if We Are Kenya is a good organization to invest your financial support in, the answer is YES. They are making such a difference in Kenya in so many ways!

Anyway, fatigue and many challenges are catching up with us and we need your prayers for team unity, open hearts and minds, physical strength, and endurance. Tomorrow the team will divide up and go to two seperate churches. Team members will be preaching at both as well as sharing songs and puppets. We still have a pastors conference to host next week, a VBS to run, meetings on micro finance and micro business, and we hope to fit an early safari in one morning. So, today we are taking the teachers out of Soweto to a giraffe park and then out to lunch.

We are building relationships and bringing encouragement but just as we are tired, so are our hosts. Please pray for us all that our sleep at night refreshes and that we are able to “Cast off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles and fix our eyes on Jesus who is the author and perfector of our faith.” (paraphrase of Hebrews 12:1-2)
