Kenya Trip – Day 8
** Terenyi Kenya Missions Trip – Summer 2025 – Day 8 Report (Tuesday, 6/3) **
Ok, quick check-in before we hit the hay. Today we had the honor of visiting Ngong and connecting with more family of our friend, Chiru. Her sister-in-law, Carol and extended family welcomed us with a feast and truly uplifting fellowship. It was a day full of eating, chatting, walking through her impressive garden, and making new friends.
Carol’s home is not just physically lovely, it was full of warmth and hospitality. She and her family are truly special people and we felt so well cared for and welcomed. A huge thank you, Carol and fam for making the day one we will never forget.
We were also blessed to have Nik, our mechanic extraordinaire, drive us the long way out to Ngong and back. As Samuel had stayed back to arrange and search out all the supplies for tomorrow’s big work day on the well, Nik agreed to be our tour travel companion. He is not only an amazing driver, but also a gifted mechanic. We met Nik years and years ago and he has been serving the children at the school by keeping the 1998 Toyota van in excellent working order…and fixing it when it is in less than excellent working order ?
Even today, we thank God for sending him with us, as the van would not start when it was time to head home. No worries – Nik handled it like a boss! He quickly organized all the men…and Sarayah…to push the van to a rolling start and off we went! (Tom says this is why he misses manual transmissions in the US!)
Again, we are heading to bed refreshed and so grateful that the Lord continues to connect our hearts with His people. Carol has promised to come to the school in Soweto and see the work the Lord is doing. How amazing is it that we can be so very far home and yet the Lord sends us family to touch our hearts and encourage our souls.
Tomorrow is a big day and we would ask that you pray for the work on the well. Please join us in praying that the work will go smoothly, that everyone will stay safe as the well is open and we will continue to hold classes, and finally that Lord will allow the work to be completed without further expense or delay. Thank you, again, to all who selflessly gave so that this work could be done. We didn’t know when we left that this would need doing, but God did…as my friend said as she prayed over me before we left the States, “God, you own the store-houses and all that is in them…”
Good night,
Rebecca (Mama Aidan)
