Terenyi Kenya Missions Trip – Summer 2025 – Day 3 Report (part II)

So continuing on where we left off for yesterday (Thursday, 5/29) – Aidan and Sarayah both got a chance to share in the school chapel service. Aidan spoke out of Ephesians and Sarayah spoke out of Psalm 138 on the Lord’s goodness to the faithful.

Rebecca, Aidan and Sarayah handed out the undergarments and the kids were pretty ecstatic, along with Teacher Earnest and other teachers, much to our amusement.

Then the 3 of them along with Pamela (Pastor Samuel’s wife) went to the open air market in town. A potentially bad but funny moment happened when Sarayah got “hit” by a car – not really, but a car stopped and the door was ajar, and so it swung forward and whacked her a bit. The driver was horrified, and checked on her and Rebecca, and everything was fine – but it’s definitely a different dynamic here with the busyness on the streets with pedestrian, bicycle, motorbike and car/truck traffic. People are always driving very slowly since it’s so tight in those places, thankfully. So again, a funny story in the end. But the meat of the story (hahhah, dad joke) was them making it to the market. They got to experience the true smells, commotion and variety of the food market in Soweto. They were able to get a lot of the ingredients we needed for the meal Rebecca is making (with help from the kids) on Saturday. It’s a meal we’ll be hosting at our Vrbo (like Airbnb) we’re staying at – we purposely chose a place to stay this time in Kenya that would allow us to scope out a bigger place for hosting missionary teams in the future, and a place to host a “retreat day” for the teachers. (more to come about this on Saturday when this actually takes place…don’t want to spoil the fun!)

Some pictures and videos to share…in no particular order since it’s very late here and I’m heading to bed momentarily…
